I love Matcha lattes! I wanted to create a creamy 'latte' style Matcha drink without needing a fancy milk steamer the coffee shops have. This creation also has some extra special ingredients that make it more substantial than a normal Matcha Latte. If you love Matcha and lattes I think you will be pleasantly surprised with my creation!
~ Vegan & Gluten-Free ~
Ingredients:
2 cup water
2-3 dates, pitted
4-6 fresh mint leaves, washed (optional)
2-3 tbsp organic hemp seeds
6-7 almonds
1 tsp organic matcha powder
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
In a small pot bring water to a simmer (70-80 C degrees IMPORTANT: Do not go above this temp as it will destroy the health promoting antioxidants in the matcha powder!). Use a food thermometer if you have one. Or remove pot when little bubble form on the bottom of the pot, before it comes to a full boil. In a high powered blender** add warmed liquid, dates, mint leaves, cinnamon, matcha powder almonds and hemp seeds. Blend on high until creamy (about 1-2 minutes). Pour into your favourite tea cup and enjoy or use a thermos to enjoy slowly throughout your morning!
* You can also use and additional 1 cup of water and 10-12 almonds to substitute for the plant milk.
** To get a lovely creamy texture its best to use a high powered blender like a Vitamix or Ninja blender.**
