Creamy vegan Chia Latte

I've love chai latte's and wanted to create a quick and easy version and most versions require steeping for a long time, so here it is! Enjoy!! : )


~ Vegan & Gluten-Free ~

Chai tea latte recipe

Ingredients:

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground ginger

1/8 tsp ground cardamom

1/8 tsp ground cloves

1/8 tsp star anise seeds (not pods!)

dash freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

1/4 tsp pure vanilla (liquid)

1 tbsp shredded coconut, unsweetened

2 tbsp hemp seeds

1-2 dates (optional- for a sweetener)

3 cups water

2-3 tsp loose leaf rooibos tea or1-2 tea bags

1 tsp pure maple syrup or honey (another option for adding sweetness)

In a medium pot add water and first 6 ingredients and bring to a just before boiling point or use a kettle and bring to a whistle. Add loose leaf tea or tea bags to either the pot or a tea pot to let steep for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a high powered blender * add vanilla, shredded coconut, hemp seed and dates (optional). After tea has steeped, use a fine strainer (if using loose leaf tea) or remove tea bags, pour liquid into blender and blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Pour into desired drinking vessel and enjoy! Add a touch of maple syrup or honey for extra sweetness if you so desire.

* Vitamix or Ninja Blenders work well to create a very smooth texture
