I love yam fries and created this recipe for a healthier baked (not deep fried) version. Enjoy : )
~ Vegan & Gluten-Free ~
Ingredients:
2 medium yams, cut into 1.5 cm cubed strips
2-3 tbsp avocado oil
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp paprika
Dash salt
2 tsp ground corn flour (masa harina)
dipping sauce:
4 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
pinch sea salt
dash freshly ground pepper
Mix cut yams in medium bowl with avocado oil until evenly coated. Add spices, salt and corn flour. Mix until evenly covering yams. Spread on to a cookie sheet and bake at 450F for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and flip over yams. Turn oven to broil and bake again for another 2-3 minutes to lightly brown and crisp yams. Watch carefully to avoid burning! Enjoy!

Yams (Orange sweet potatoes)
This wonderful orange coloured variety of the root vegetable known as sweet potato, was given the name yam in the mid twentieth century to distinguish between the yellow sweet potato variety and the orange ('yam') sweet potato variety. In actual fact the true yam is a completely different root vegetable from the sweet potato. This health promoting root vegetable is loaded with antioxidants and is rich in carotenes and vitamin C.
